Chapter 267: Victor Is Me
Chapter 267: Victor Is Me
’Weak-looking locks.’
Fang Raon thought as he took a quick look at the locks of the cages.
He lifted his knee till it hit his chest and then gave the rusty locks a good kick that immediately broke them open.
"Ah!"
The guards looked at him in wonder, still asking themselves the same question of "Who is he?"
"...Who is Miss Opal’s husband?"
Fang Raon asked.
The guards seemed surprised, and one by one, they turned to look at the decent-looking man with brownish-black hair.
"...That’s me."
The man said.
"...Your wife is worried. Follow me. I’ll take you guys out of here."
Fang Raon said, quite relieved that he was still alive, and then he headed for the door.
Outside the door, there were a couple dead Ice Goblins bleeding on the ground. There were a couple prison guards left.
It didn’t seem like all the Ice Goblins were over at the village, which really wasn’t that surprising either.
"You know my wife?"
The man ran after Fang Raon, curious about this young man’s identity, and, from a quick look, noticed his attire.
It wasn’t something that locals would wear, and it was definitely the classic magician robe that the players liked to wear.
"You are a player!"
One of the guards called out.
"Yeah."
Fang Raon nodded and then led them out of the prison and down a long dark tunnel that was heading straight for the village.
He knew that the Ice Goblins must hold all the prisoners captive somewhere, and he knew that it wouldn’t be the village.
While all other exits seemed to lead outside, there was one path that seemed to lead deeper into the mountain.
He believed that the prisoner would be there, and to his pleasant surprise, he was completely correct with his guess!
"...Why is a player here?"
"...I don’t know."
The guards whispered with each other, and Opal’s husband looked at Raon with confusion and curiosity in his eyes.
In that moment.
They walked out of the tunnel and came face-to-face with the burning village and the massive blue-skinned giant over in the distance.
"Ice Giant!"
They shouted in shock.
"Head to that exit. None of the Ice Goblins went that way. It should lead you straight outside, and don’t linger around. Head straight for the Winter Village."
Fang Raon pointed at one of the exits.
"...Okay!"
The guards nodded and started running for the exit, but Opal’s husband stayed behind for a little longer.
"What about you?"
He asked.
"...There are still the Ice Goblin colony and the Ice Giant that need to be taken care of."
Fang Raon said.
"What can you possibly do alone? You should come with us."
He said with a concerned expression.
"I appreciate your concern, but that won’t do. Your wife is worried sick about you. You shouldn’t make her wait."
Fang Raon said, and then he started walking through the burning village, his eyes fixated on the Ice Giant.
"How do you know my wife?"
He asked.
"I dined with your family. Nice people. Go now. This whole mountain will come crashing down soon!"
Fang Raon shouted.
"Oh... okay..."
The husband took one last look at him, whispered, "Thank you," and then ran out of the exit with the other guards.
"Haaah!"
Meanwhile, Anna blocked the Ice Giant’s furious strike, and the ground under her feet cracked from the impact.
"ARGH!"
She screamed loudly.
"Heat Gaze!"
A scorching-hot beam pierced through the air and bore a hole through the Ice Giant’s shoulder, causing it to stumble backward in pain.
"ROAR!"
[Ice Giant - HP: 61%]
"Brother, took you long enough!"
Anna shouted, and then the Ice Giant’s fist angrily came down, and she quickly blocked it with her shield.
THUMP!
[Durability: 33/100]
"Rewrite!"
Fang Raon took out a feather pen, rewrote the Minion Summon spell again, and the drawn picture on the page changed once more.
It changed from Ice Goblins to Fire Goblins.
"Minion Summon!"
He tossed the feather pen away, and the page of the grimoire started glowing with beautiful scarlet-red colors.
In that moment, flaming goblins jumped out of the page, their hair catching on fire as they materialized in the room.
Even their eyebrows were on fire.
"Attack the giant with all you got!"
Fang Raon barked an order.
Fire Goblin minions swarmed around the giant, their flames growing brighter and more intense with each passing moment.
They then attacked the massive creature with whatever fire spell they got, and it definitely hurt the giant.
"ROAR!"
The Ice Giant turned on them, and it raised its massive foot and stomped over the Fire Goblins, killing them instantly!
"Ugh!"
Fang Raon coughed out blood.
He was in a way connected to the goblins, so when they died, it also affected him directly, causing a dent in his total health.
[HP: 175/300]
"Intimidation!"
Anna attacked the Ice Giant with her aura attack, and the Ice Giant was stunned for only a second.
Her intimidation skill wasn’t strong enough to hold Ice Giant in place for long, but one second was enough for her.
"Big Spear!"
Anna thrust her big sword into the Ice Giant’s chest and then ran it down the length of its body, creating a massive bleeding wound.
"ROAAAAR!"
That definitely hurt as the Ice Giant let out its loudest roar so far, and the health also dipped significantly.
[Ice Giant - HP: 49%]
"We can do this!"
Anna shouted.
They were already halfway done, and from what she knew, Ice Giants didn’t have three phases like Boss Raids.
Because Ice Giant was just a common monster in the higher floors and not a boss!
"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
But then, the Ice Giant’s strange scream reverberated throughout the mountain tunnels, even reaching the birds outside.
All the Ice Goblins, who were chasing after the players, stopped in their tracks, and turned around, and started heading back.
It was a Cry For Help spell!
"...I can sense a lot of people heading this way. Ice Goblins. Hundreds of them. It just cried for help!"
Anna’s face turned bleached.
"Finger Pistols!"
Fang Raon pointed his pistol-styled fingers at the gigantic Ice Giant and then pulled back his thumbs, as if they were a trigger.
Bang~! Bang~! Bang~!
Three bullets pierced through the Ice Giant’s chest, and it let out yet another loud scream that shook the very foundation of the mountain.
’The mountain is very unstable. Good.’
Fang Raon thought.
"That’s good."
He said.
"What do you mean that’s good, brother? Hundreds of Ice Goblins are coming here. We can’t handle them alone!"
Anna cried out.
"Good because we would’ve had to otherwise hunt them all down individually. This makes things simpler."
Fang Raon said.
"What are you talking about, brother?"
Anna was confused.
"Take the same path as those captured guards did, and leave the mountain at once."
Fang Raon said.
"Huh? Like hell I am! I am not going anywhere without you!"
Anna shouted.
"Don’t you get it, Anna? This was always the plan. Your death would be unnecessary, so go."
Fang Raon said.
"Come with me. We can both leave!"
Anna screamed.
"That would defeat the purpose of all of this. The goal is to kill the Ice Giant and the colony altogether so they don’t threaten the future of this floor.
"If I just leave now, they’ll attack the Winter Village in the upcoming weeks, and the floor is doomed.
"This is literally the only chance to stop all that from happening."
Fang Raon said.
Anna opened her mouth, planning to argue further, but then Fang Raon blocked her mouth with his hand.
"Don’t. Just go."
He said.
She looked at him silently, and she clenched her hands into fists, as if she wanted to punch her foolish brother in the face.
But he had already made up his mind.
"...Do what you want, hmph,"
Anna gritted her teeth, walked past her brother, and headed for the exit, but the Ice Giant didn’t seem to want her to leave.
The Ice Giant roared, about to run after her, but then, a massive magic shield appeared right in front of it, blocking its path.
"Magic Shield."
Fang Raon whispered with a few drops of sweat falling off his forehead.
Creating Magic Shield of that size was really taxing, but he couldn’t afford to go after his sister, so he had no choice.
In that moment.
Ice Goblins started to appear from the tunnels, and soon, they were everywhere, hundreds and hundreds of them.
Because of the Cry For Help, the burning village didn’t scare them in the slightest, as their mind was only occupied with the thought of helping the Ice Giant.
"Come on then."
Fang Raon said with a smirk.
With another roar, Ice Giant ordered the Ice Goblins to attack, and they listened without hesitation.
Their big feet stomped across the ground.
The ceiling was shaking. A couple dust particles and rocks fell from above.
In that moment...
Fang Raon closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and once he opened his eyes again, they were scarlet-red.
He turned his gaze to the ceiling, and at that moment, his eyes caught fire, as if his eyeballs were ablaze with an otherworldly flame.
"HEAT GAZE!"
The gaze of fire shot out of his eyes and slammed straight into the ceiling, causing it to explode like an overripe watermelon.
The mountain’s very foundation shook. It started crumbling apart. Chunks of rock began to fall from the sky.
"...Rou?"
Ice Giant turned to the ceiling, and one of the heavy boulders fell straight at its head, splitting its skull in two.
Ice Goblins screamed. The heavy rocks fell all around them, crushing them like bugs.
"Ahh... I am the victor."
Fang Raon smiled, spreading his arms wide as if he were embracing the death, while the whole mountain was falling all around him.
CRASH~! CRASH~! CRASH~!
The sound of the destruction echoed throughout the valley, and the locals, all the way over in the Winter Village, witnessed the sight of the mountain collapsing in on itself.
"My god..."
