Chapter 491 Equals
Chapter 491 Equals
The sight of him made Anya’s chest tighten instantly.
In only a few seconds he already looked worn down.
His clothes were torn badly around his ribs and chest. Blood stained parts of his shirt and bruises had already formed beneath his skin. His breathing was steady but heavier now, controlled through visible pain.
And yet...
His eyes remained calm.
Focused.
The vampire stood up as well.
Slowly.
Almost casually.
The blood-red armor beneath it pulsed faintly beneath the moonlight like something alive. Strange energy radiated from it now, thick and oppressive enough to make even the surrounding werewolves uneasy.
Then the vampire raised one hand toward Liam.
And curled his fingers.
The gesture was simple.
Come here.
Provocative.
Mocking.
Like he was inviting Liam to continue entertaining him.
Liam spat blood onto the broken ground beside him.
His chest rose slowly as he stared at the vampire.
This was different.
Completely different.
Apart from Cain, this was the strongest opponent he had ever faced.
Not just powerful.
Dangerous.
Precise.
Fast enough to keep up with him.
At this point holding back would be stupidity.
Useless.
Liam slowly rolled his shoulder once before loosening his fists.
Then something changed.
At first it looked subtle.
A faint glow beneath his skin.
But within seconds the glow intensified rapidly until golden light started radiating visibly through his veins.
Not his skin.
His blood.
The blood flowing beneath his skin turned gold.
The sight alone stunned everyone watching.
Golden lines spread across Liam’s body like living energy beneath his flesh, illuminating him beneath the night sky while pressure exploded outward from his body.
The ground around him cracked instantly.
Wind burst outward violently.
Even the vampire’s grin faded slightly this time.
Because he felt it too.
The change.
Liam slowly lowered his stance.
His glowing eyes locked onto the vampire completely.
Then—
BOOOOOM!!!
Liam launched forward like a golden meter.
The instant Liam and the vampire collided again the entire street exploded apart.
A shockwave ripped outward so violently that nearby cars flipped into the air like toys. Windows shattered across multiple buildings at once and the front gates of Irina’s mansion bent inward from the pressure alone.
Neither of them moved back.
Their fists remained locked together at the center of the collision while the ground beneath them caved inward several feet.
Liam’s glowing golden veins burned brighter beneath his skin as raw force surged through his body. The vampire’s red armor pulsed violently in response, almost alive, almost angry.
For half a second the world seemed frozen around them.
Then both moved again.
Too fast.
One moment Liam stood there.
The next the street was exploding in ten different places at once.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Every collision sounded like thunder crashing directly into the earth. Their bodies blurred across the battlefield so quickly that even the werewolves struggled to track them properly.
Lana narrowed her eyes despite the pain in her broken arm.
"They’re insane..." she whispered.
The vampire appeared above Liam suddenly, his leg swinging downward like an axe.
Liam reacted instantly.
Boom!
His forearm blocked the kick but the impact still blasted him through the ground, creating a massive crater beneath his feet. Concrete erupted upward like water around him.
Before the dust could settle Liam shot upward with terrifying force and drove his fist straight toward the vampire’s ribs.
The vampire twisted sideways barely in time.
Even then the punch clipped him.
Crack!
Several pieces of the blood-red armor shattered apart instantly as the vampire was launched through a building. The entire structure collapsed inward from the impact.
Liam did not let him breathe.
He vanished.
Then appeared inside the collapsing building itself.
Boom!
His knee slammed into the vampire’s stomach hard enough to fold the man’s body in half before smashing him through three concrete floors downward.
The entire building shook violently.
Dust clouds exploded outward from every window.
But suddenly—
Whoosh!
Liam’s instincts screamed.
He twisted his head just in time as the vampire’s fist grazed past his face instead of crushing it completely.
Even the air pressure from the missed punch sliced Liam’s cheek open.
The vampire had recovered instantly.
Their eyes met at point blank range.
Then both attacked at the exact same time.
Boom!!!
Their fists smashed into each other’s faces simultaneously.
The impact blasted both of them backward through opposite sides of the building.
Liam rolled violently across the street before flipping himself back upright.
The vampire crashed into a line of parked vehicles, crushing them beneath him.
For a brief moment both stood still.
Breathing hard.
Bruised.
Bleeding.
Then they smiled.
Not because it was funny.
But because both had realized the same thing.
Finally.
An opponent worthy enough.
The vampire slowly wiped blood from the corner of his mouth while staring at Liam with genuine surprise now.
"You..." he said softly.
His voice sounded deeper than before.
"Interesting."
Liam cracked his neck once, blood dripping from his split eyebrow.
"Yeah?" he replied.
The vampire’s grin widened.
"I thought you’d break quicker."
Then he disappeared again.
BOOM!
Liam barely crossed his arms in time before the vampire’s kick slammed into him like a missile. The force launched Liam through multiple buildings this time, entire walls exploding apart as his body tore through them violently.
Anya gasped upstairs.
"Oh my God!"
But before panic could fully settle—
BOOOOM!!!
Golden light erupted from the rubble.
Liam exploded back out at insane speed and tackled the vampire straight through the air. Both crashed into the side of another building and kept going through it completely.
The city itself was beginning to look like a warzone now.
Collapsed walls.
Burning vehicles.
Shattered streets.
And in the center of it all were those two monsters.
Inside the ruined building Liam grabbed the vampire by the throat and smashed him repeatedly through concrete pillars.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Each slam shook the structure harder.
The vampire suddenly drove his elbow into Liam’s jaw hard enough to snap his head sideways. Before Liam could recover the vampire grabbed his face and hurled him downward through the floor.
Crash!
Liam slammed into the underground parking level beneath the building.
Cars flattened beneath the impact.
The vampire dropped after him instantly.
Liam rose just in time to catch another incoming punch.
Their fists locked again.
The parking structure trembled violently around them.
Metal bent.
Pillars cracked.
Liam growled through clenched teeth before slamming his forehead directly into the vampire’s face.
Crack!
The vampire staggered back slightly.
Liam immediately followed with a savage combination.
A fist into the ribs.
An elbow across the jaw.
A knee into the stomach.
Every strike carried monstrous force now, each hit blasting dents into the vampire’s armor and sending shockwaves through the underground structure.
The vampire suddenly roared and grabbed Liam by the shoulders.
Then headbutted him back.
Boom!
Liam’s vision blurred briefly.
The vampire used that exact moment to grab him and launch him upward through the ceiling.
Concrete exploded.
Liam flew back onto the surface level violently.
The vampire came flying out after him immediately.
Both landed at the same time.
Then attacked again.
The speed became absurd now.
Even Lana could barely follow their movements properly anymore.
All anyone could see were flashes of gold and red colliding endlessly across the battlefield while destruction followed behind them.
A building collapsed.
The street split apart.
Streetlights exploded from shockwaves alone.
The vampire swung downward with both fists.
Liam caught the attack midair.
The ground beneath both of them imploded instantly.
Their faces were inches apart now.
The vampire’s glowing red eyes narrowed slightly.
"You’re not human."
Liam smirked despite blood running down his chin.
"Neither are you."
Then Liam twisted violently and hurled the vampire through an entire row of buildings.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The vampire crashed through wall after wall before finally stopping inside the ruins of a supermarket.
Liam shot after him instantly.
The vampire barely stood before Liam’s fist crashed into his face again and sent him skidding across the floor.
Shelves exploded apart.
Metal twisted.
The vampire suddenly caught Liam’s next punch and slammed his knee upward into Liam’s ribs.
Crack!
Liam coughed blood instantly.
The vampire grabbed him by the neck and smashed him through the ceiling upward onto the rooftop.
BOOM!
The rooftop cracked beneath Liam’s body.
The vampire landed smoothly nearby while rolling his shoulders slowly.
For the first time his breathing had become heavier too.
His armor was damaged badly now. Cracks spread across the red surface while blood leaked from multiple wounds.
Liam looked no better.
His shirt was nearly destroyed completely. Bruises covered his body and blood stained parts of his chest and arms.
Yet the golden glow beneath his skin remained terrifyingly bright.
Both stared at each other across the ruined rooftop.
Then suddenly they charged again at full speed.
BOOOOOOM!!!
Their collision split the rooftop apart instantly.
They exchanged blows so quickly it sounded like machine gun fire.
Punch.
Kick.
Elbow.
Knee.
Neither backed down.
Neither slowed.
The vampire landed a brutal punch across Liam’s face.
Liam answered with two devastating body blows that bent the vampire slightly.
The vampire grabbed Liam’s arm and twisted hard enough to dislocate it.
Liam immediately slammed his forehead into the vampire again and reset his arm with sheer force during movement.
The brutality of the fight became monstrous.
Animalistic.
Pure destruction.
At one point both grabbed each other and crashed through the rooftop entirely, falling down through multiple floors while beating each other the entire way down.
Concrete floors shattered beneath them one after another.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Finally they crashed back onto the street level together.
For a second neither moved.
Dust floated everywhere.
Small fires burned around the destroyed streets.
Then slowly...
Both stood again.
Lana stared in disbelief.
"They’re still going..."
Even Danill looked disturbed now.
Because this level of endurance and violence no longer looked natural even for monsters.
The vampire rolled his neck slowly before laughing quietly.
Actual laughter.
Blood dripped from his mouth onto the broken ground.
"You really are different."
Liam wiped blood from his eye and exhaled slowly.
His body hurt everywhere now.
Every muscle screamed.
But deep inside him excitement was building too.
Because for the first time since Cain...
Someone could actually push him this far.
Golden light pulsed harder beneath Liam’s skin.
The vampire’s armor pulsed red in response.
